PASTRY SHOPS

Pastry shops outside of Barcelona you simply can’t miss

We’ve journeyed the outskirts of Barcelona to hand select pastry shops you just can’t miss out on.

Some of them are located on the Costa Brava, an area that offers some of the most exclusive corners of the Mediterranean, with crystal clear waters and charming villages. As if that were not enough, it is also home to one of the most prestigious gastronomic areas, so it is certainly worth a visit!

On the other hand, more and more people dedicate their free time to discover the heritage closer to Barcelona that we find in the Baix Llobregat region. Cities full of natural beauty and archaeological and architectural riches.

Now, what’s a road trip without the necessary stop for the best sweet treats in town? Take notes!

Cocoa House

From the creators of Celler of Can Roca and Rocambolesc, we bring you Jordi Roca’s Casa Cacao, the newest addition to the family. 🤎 If you’re looking to get out of Barcelona and discover the prettiest spots on the Costa Brava, this is the perfect excuse for you!

Casa Cacao pays tribute to its name, elaborating its very own Bean To Bar to create little treats: turrons, bonbons and chocolate with different origins such as Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, and more.

They take special care in every step of every elaboration to achieve unique and authentic products that you can find in their shop located in Girona. They also have a pop-up store in the Hotel Mandarin Oriental de Barcelona until April.

If your enthusiasm for all things cacao is still left unsatisfied, you can go for a guided tour or even a tasting. Needless to say, the best of the bunch is Hotel Casa Cacao, a beautiful place where you can enjoy the sunsets of Girona, the best gastronomy and views, always with a sweet finish.

Location: Plaça de Catalunya, 23 (Girona)

Maison Marcel

Take advantage of your escape on the Costa Brava and head towards the town of Sant Feliu de Guíxols. Here, you’ll find the wonderful Maison Marcel, a sweet space full of enchantment! 💕

Breakfast is the first contact we make with food throughout our day, which means it’s important to dedicate time to it and enjoy every bite and every flavor.

Andrea and Franck, partners both in cooking and in life, began creating their approach “market pastry”, through which they offer high quality, accessible artisan products. Amongst them, you’ll find confits, granola, snacks, chocolate, jams, and other desserts.

They have recently opened up a new workshop where, as well as discovering their sweet creations, you’ll also get the chance to enjoy them in a very special little space.

The smell of freshly made coffee, the flavor of their handmade treats, and the welcoming, friendly atmosphere will have you falling in love with this place.

Location: C/ Major, 5 (Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Girona)

Dolç par Yann Duytsche

Dolç continues to be a must that we visit year after year. Not only because of their incredible panettone, but all of the wonderful creations that you’ll find in this workshop in Sant Cugat del Vallès, very close to Barcelona.

Whatever you’re looking for—whether it be a classic combination or something riskier, with a more or less sophisticated finish—Yann Duytsche always manages to surprise us. He himself defines his pastry as "from the originator, gastronomical, immediate and gourmande".

His passion for fresh, high-quality pastry is based on the quick elaboration  of typical pastry products. If you’re looking for a warm, freshly baked croissant or a lemon pie with a just-whipped meringue finish, you’re in the right place!

Not only will you find yourself in a professional environment, but the French chef also transmits closeness and good energy to his team and everyone who visits.

Location: C/ de Josep Puig i Cadafalch, 50 (Sant Cugat del Vallès, Barcelona)

Taart

What's your favorite TAART? Badalona opens its doors to a new concept, a fusion space dedicated to creative pastry. Specialty coffees, sweet treats and artisanal juices—combine them as your heart desires! 🍊

It is an establishment with a calm atmosphere where you’ll no doubt start your day on a good note. It’s also a great place to work or simply enjoy something sweet, whenever you want.

A space with an industrial air, where warmth and gentleness never falter, thanks to their display cases filled with petits gâteaux and desserts you simply cannot resist.

Location: C/ de Mar, 101 (Badalona, Barcelona)

Pachi Larrea

In the heart of Castelldefels lives this artisan pastry shop, Pachi Larrea. We can’t live without a delicious sweet treat to start the day off! And what better momento to visit this place than in the morning for breakfast or brunch. They have a varied menu, appropriate for all sweet-tooths out there.

Chocolate plays an important role in the life of this Ecuadorian chef. Ecuador’s unique climate provide the perfect environment for harvesting the finest cacao in the world. With this in mind, through his elaborations, Larrea tells the story of his country and its ingredients, always using La República del Cacao chocolate.

If you’re a chocaholic, this place is for you! 🤎

Location: C/ del Doctor Trueta, 2 (Castelldefels, Barcelona)

Pastisseria Tugues

Let’s go to Lleida! We love the huge display case that welcomes us in the pastry shop 'Tugues', where the caramelized chocolate mousse tartlets or the Mozart—made with English cream, hazelnut crumble and Bavarian vanilla cream—go hand in hand with the escalivada cocas , seasonal vegetables, or sandwiches, amongst many other elaborations.

Jordi Tugues has accomplished success both with his savory options as well as his tartlets, cakes and mochis, which have just the right amount of sweetness given that he opts for a lighter pastry without excessive amounts of sugar.

By 6am, they will have already started making their doughs for their 6 types of bread found here, all with natural yeast and an 18-hour fermentation process: brioche, puff pastry, and croissants. They also offer a seasonal tart which changes every month and a half.

Of course, we couldn’t be without the panettone! They were pioneers in its elaboration, and we can confirm it is delicious! You’ll find everything you’re looking for at Tugues. 🤩

Location: Av. Alcalde Rovira Roure, 5 (Lleida)

All of these are excellent options of pastry shops and bakeries that we have selected for you, taking into account the quality ingredients that they all use.

Tell us which was your favorite and which others we could add to the list! 🍰
